Powertraveller Powermonkey Expedition Multi-Power Waterproof 5V and 12V Charger, Silver. Powertraveller Powermonkey Expedition Multi-power Waterproof 5V & 12V charger Powertraveller has developed a world-first in off-grid power generation. The powermonkey expedition is a revolution in portable charging technology, bringing together multiple ways in which to naturally, yet efficiently generate power. You can charge the 10,500mAh battery in three ways; via hand-powered crank, solar or AC mains and then charge a plethora of 5V & 12V devices. 10,500mAh Lithium-Ion Battery The powermonkey expedition houses a massive 10,500mAh Lithium Polymer battery which is capable of recharging an iPhone 6 four times, a GoPro Hero4 up to seven times and an iPad Air once. It can also charge most SLR camera batteries twice plus give charge to a whole host of other 5V & 12V devices. 5V & 12V Charging Capabilities The powermonkey expedition has two output ports – a 5V USB socket and a 12V DC socket. From the 5V USB socket you can charge your smaller devices such as smartphones, iPods, GPS, head lamps, etc., whilst the 12V DC socket can be used to charge SLR camera batteries (when used in conjunction with the included female in-car socket), portable DVD players and much more. You can even charge 5V and 12V devices simultaneously while charging the internal battery, thus saving time. Multiple Ways to Charge the Internal Battery You can charge the powermonkey expedition’s battery in three ways: via hand-powered crank, solar or AC mains. Hand-Crank The powermonkey expedition is equipped with a strong, ergonomic crank-handle that attaches to the end of the unit and allows you to generate power at a comfortable speed thanks to the 32:1 gearing ratio. The unit features an LED that indicates the optimum speed for hand-crank charging. Just 10 minutes of hand-crank charges the expedition battery by 1% – equal to 40 minutes talk time on an iPhone. Solar panel Supplied with the powermonkey expedition is the solarmonkey expedition – a specially designed photovoltaic solar panel housed in a tough, clamshell casing offering a 5 Watt, 5V 1Amp output. The solarmonkey expedition will recharge the powermonkey’s internal battery in 12-15 hours in optimum sunlight conditions, perfect if you’re up a mountain, in the desert or simply on the move. The panel is made from aluminium that acts as a heat-sync, making the panel both efficient and hardwearing. AC Mains The powermonkey expedition is supplied with an international AC Mains charger that will work in over 150 countries around the world. With this, you can be sure that the internal battery is fully charged before you head out off into the unknown and recharge it again once you return to civilisation. Ultra-Tough Casing Made from strong aluminium, the powermonkey expedition is rugged and the ridged finish provides a secure grip even if your hands are cold / wet or you’re wearing gloves. The aluminium makes the unit more efficient and durable without adding unnecessary weight. Water-resistant Design With an Ingress Protection rating of 65, the powermonkey expedition is completely dust-tight and can withstand water jets directed from any angle – perfect for even the harshest of environments. Both input and output cables are connected via a unique IP67-rated housing system, ensuring all connections remain waterproof, for up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. To Work Out The Voltage Of Your Device If your device is charged via a USB socket, the maximum voltage of your device will be 5 Volts. For other products, the voltage your device requires can be found either in the user manual supplied with the device or on the AC mains charger. Works With This charger is compatible with virtually any 5V & 12V electronic device including smartphones, tablets, SLR cameras, satellite phones, GPS, two-way radios and more. Perfect for Outdoor use With an ever-increasing number of people heading out to the world’s most remote locations, it is evident that a growing amount of mobile devices are going with them. The need for unlimited, off-power has never been greater and now, we can supply it. The powermonkey expedition is the ultimate in off-grid power generation. This product has the ability to charge both 5V & 12V devices simultaneously, while the internal battery is being charge from AC mains or the solar panel, giving you the freedom to keep working. The tough, water-resistant design has been put through its paces by mountaineers Squash Falconer and Kenton Cool, plus legendary explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Future Applications The powermonkey expedition has been cleverly designed so that additional charging options can be included at a later date. Alternative ways to charge the powerful internal battery will include wind and water (currently in final testing), steam turbine, gas and hydrogen fuel-cell, so whatever situation you find yourself in, the Powermonkey Expedition ensures your devices will never run out of power. Who’s It Suitable For? If you’re a keen adventurer who is away from mains power for days / weeks at a time, then the powermonkey expedition is for you.
